Accessibility
DarkTiger Tarot is built to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 at level AA.
What is checked before a release
- Every page is run through axe, an automated accessibility checker, at seven screen widths from 320 to 1920 pixels.
- Every page is laid out and read at those widths for overflow, clipped text, small type and small tap targets.
- The home page is measured with Lighthouse on the live address.
- A keyboard walk: every control reached and used with the keyboard alone.
What the pages do
- Text sits on a dark ground at a contrast of 7 to 1 or better, including text over the blurred card art.
- Motion, the slow drift of the backdrop and the light across the front card, stops with the Motion switch in the top bar and follows your device's reduce-motion setting.
- The card wheel moves with a swipe, the arrow keys, the Previous and Next buttons, or a tap on a neighbouring card.
- The enlarged card art opens in a dialog that traps focus, closes with Escape, and zooms with buttons and keys as well as a pinch.
Known limits
- Panning the enlarged art by dragging has button and key alternatives; a scrolling alternative is being built.
- Museum photographs carry a description of the object shown, not of every detail in the picture.
- The pages have not yet been tested with a screen reader by a person. That test is part of the release gate.
